Just One Change! Draughty Letterboxes

After the late Michael Mosely’s “Just One Thing”, we focus on one change to make your home more comfortable, save money or reduce fossil fuel reliance.

This month, we look at letterboxes and key holes. These are a common source of cold draughts, especially if they are broken, very stiff (and jam open) or loose. It is possible to install flaps and simple draught excluders to both letter boxes and keyholes to reduce draughts.  Installing an internal letterbox flap with brushes greatly reduces the cold air, or a magnetic letterbox draught excluder will seal completely. Even a heavy curtain covering a letter box will help.
